The education and training of mediators between Europe and South-America is prominent in Latin American Studies. The most renowned university in Latin America, the Colegio de México (and thus indirectly the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), is interested in a joint degree on this subject. Due to its European-Latin American conception, the study programme leads to an important enlargement of the study offer, both for the co-operation partners in Latin America as well as at the University of Graz. Students have to complete one academic year or semester at one of the partner institutions abroad. In this way, a link to the focus on Southeast Europe of the University of Graz could be established, since a lot of people in Latin America are of East-European origin which could present an important subject in the framework of the project work. The plan is to enlarge the programme by applying for Erasmus Mundus funding.
