Admission Requirements

Admission to the International Master's Programme in Industrial Ecology is conditional on the successful completion of a relevant bachelor's degree programme or a relevant bachelor's degree of a university of applied sciences, or an equivalent degree from a recognised higher education institution in Austria or abroad. Relevant Bachelor’s degree programmes are degree programmes in engineering, natural sciences, environmental sciences, economics or social sciences with 180 ECTS. Admission is decided by the Rectorate according to § 60 Abs. 1 UG.


Due to the fact that the master programme is entirely taught in English, students have to provide an evidence of proficiency in English language according to § 63 UG as well as according to point 10 of the Rectorate's Regulation regarding the admission of international students to degree programmes at the University of Graz as of 20.08.2014 (Mitteilungsblatt 46.a, 2013/14):
a)  According to § 63 Abs. 1 Z 3 iVm § 63 Abs. 10 UG, an evidence of proficiency in English language is mandatory.
b) The evidence of proficiency in English language is regarded as present if English is the applicant's native language or secondary education language or if the applicant provides a degree certificate of a relevant English-taught bachelor's degree programme from a recognised higher education institution in Austria or abroad.
c) All other applicants have to provide the evidence of proficiency in English language with the following minimum requirements:

  • TOEFL (minimum score: 230 (computer-based), 570 (paper-based), 90 (Internet-based), or
  • IELTS (minimum score: 6,5),
  • or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (minimum score: C).
