How to apply

  1. Please  read carefully the Admission Criteria section to find out if you are eligible for the programme. Please check also the information about the selection and admission process!
  2. Choose your entrance university  (where you spend the Basic module in the first semester and where you complete the programme). You can choose two priorities.
  3. Choose your spezialisation tracks (where you spend your second semester (prioritize 1-5)
  4. Find an overview of your possibilities HERE.
  5. Collect all documents that need to be uploaded in the online application (as PDF)
  6. Apply online here: https://jointdegree.biobs.com

PLEASE NOTE: The curriculum will change as of study year 2020/21. The information provided in the course guide does only reflect the content of the study year 2019/20. Available specialisation tracks for 2020/21 are described HERE. Please check also the information concerning degree details.

Hiroshima University is available as entrance university, however specific regulations apply. Please check out HERE.

  • Language certificate* (exception: English-native-speaking applicants) - not older than 2 years at the time of admission to the programme (May/June) - for information about accepted certificates see at the bottom of this page

  • University diploma/Bachelor certificate*
  • Diploma Supplement (if provided by your university)
  • Grade point average (GPA) or average mark and Information about the grading system used at your University (please use the TEMPLATE on left side of this page) - please upload as PDF
  • Information about courses relevant for the application (please use the TEMPLATE - on the left side of this page)
  • 2 signed Letters of Recommendation (at least one of which from a staff member your bachelor/degree programme)*
  • Motivation statement (you have to insert your statement into the application directly but it is recommended to type it in advance - max 4.000 characters )

 

* it is possible to hand in the language certificate after the application deadline but not later than April 19th, 2020. Please upload the confirmation of application for the English test and indicate the exam resp. result date in the application. The certificate should be available during the selection committee meeting (April 20/21)!

>> If you experience problems, i.e. the language test centers are closed or tests cancelled, please upload a confirmation about the cancelled tests + confirmation of your test application. If you could provide any additional language certificates or confirmations (such as older certificates etc.) this would be also very helpful. Due to this unusual situation, we will evaluate all applications under condition language certificates will be handed in at a later moment.

* If you haven't received your diploma yet, you can apply for the program, but you should mention in your application that you will provide the selection committee with your diploma as soon as possible after graduation. You diploma must be provided as hard copy during admission to the entrance university at the latest!

* it is possible to upload the recommendation letters directly to the online application. If the person who is writing the recommendation doesn't want to send the letter to you, he/she may send it directly to jointdegrees(at)uni-graz.at and we will do the upload.

Online Application

In order to successfully complete the online application, please follow the steps below:

Step 1 consists of:

  • Entering main data (including your profile picture)
  • Providing information on abourt your profile
  • Stating your language skills
  • Stating that you have enough financial ressources (no documents needed)
  • Entering your motivation statement

This step is then confirmed with the “Finish Data Entry” button. After clicking on this button, no further changes to this section will be possible.

 Step 2 consists of:

  • Uploading your documents (Note: all documents have to be either in English language or with an English translation.)
  • Ranking the entrance universities and specialisation tracks according to your preferences (Note: You cannot spend your specialisation track at your chosen entrance university, however you can indicate the specialsiation track of your 1st choice entrance university in case you will be allocated to your second choice and vice versa.)

Submit your application by clicking on "Finish application". Once you click on the “Finish application” button, you will have no further access to your application and absolutely no changes will be possible anymore. So please make sure to carefully review your application before hitting the submit button "Finish application".

Note: If you have any questions, please consult the website and FAQS first and only send an email in case you cannot find the answer online. Due to a high number of emails during the application period, answers may take some time!

English certificates

  • TOEFL: paper based - 580 | computer-based - 237 | internet-based - 93
  • IELTS (academic test): minimum required score of 6.5 and not less than 6.0 in the writing section
  • Cambridge EFL (English as a Foreign Language) presenting one of the following certificates:
    • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (minimum 180 points)
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (minimum score C1)

Note: it is possible to hand in the language certificate after the application deadline. Please upload the confirmation of application for the English test and indicate the exam resp. result date in the application. The certificate should be available during the selection committee meeting which takes place mid April!

Important  NOTE:

If you apply for University of Graz as entrance university, you need to hand in the following certificates and minimum scores at the time of admission (2nd step after succesfull selection by the consortium):

  • TOEFL internet based: 95
  • IELTS: 7
  • Cambridge Certificates: (CAE grade 7/180 points; CPE level C1; CEF grade A)
  • 8 school years at an englisch-speaking School
  • 4 years English in an Austrian secondary school and final examination (Reifeprüfung) in English
  • completion of a study programme fully taught in English

The certificate should not be older than 2 years at the time of admission to the programme (May/June).
