Admission to this Master's Programme is granted to persons holding an academic degree of at least 180 ECTS credits (bachelor’s degree or equivalent programme of at least 180 ECTS) in engineering, natural sciences, environmental sciences, economics or social sciences, including courses in mathematics and/or statistics (min. 12 ECTS) and courses in environmental and/or systems sciences (min. 12 ECTS). For the bachelor's degree, a minimum overall/average grade of B according to the ECTS grading system is necessary.

Admission to the Master’s Programme does not guarantee admission to any particular host university, where additional local criteria may be operative. At the same time, graduates from different forms and fields of studies can be admitted if the completed programme is judged to be equivalent in the regular admission procedure of the entrance university to which the student applies.

Since the language of instruction in the Master’s Programme is English, students whose first language is not English must demonstrate a very high level of competence in English through the provision of one of the following language certificates:

  • TOEFL 575 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based) or 90 (internet-based);
  • IELTS grade 6.5;
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English grade C.

For the admission at the University of Graz, the following specific requirements apply additionally:

  • Courses in social and economic sciences: minimum 12 ECTS
  • English proficiency: IELTS score of at least 7; TOEFL (internet based) score of at least 95.
 

For the admission at Chalmers University of Technology, the following specific requirements apply additionally:

  • Bachelor's degree: in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Architecture and Engineering, Environmental Science, Geo Science or Agricultural Science
  • Courses in mathematics/statistics: minimum 22.5 ECTS
  • English proficiency: IELTS with no part of the test below 5.5; TOEFL (paper based) with a minimum of 4.5 on the written part, TOEFL (internet based) with a minimum of 20 on the written part, TOEFL ITP is not accepted, the Cambridge English First Certificate is not sufficient but the requirement is: Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English).
 
 

Admission into the CIRCLE programme is the responsibility of the CIRCLE Programme Board, who will appoint an Admission Committee of representatives of the Consortium partners for that purpose. The Admission Committee decides on whether to admit and establishes the priority list for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships. For the selection, the Committee will follow the selection criteria as laid down by the consortium, included in the application form and published on its website.
