Upon successful completion of the Joint International Master in Sustainable Development, students are awarded a “Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development - M.Sc.” Background information can be found in our course guide.

  • Italy: Laurea magistrale (LM)
  • Japan: Master of Science (M.Sc.)

Regulations as of 2020/21

For students who have taken up the Master’s programme from the academic year 2020/21 onwards, a double degree will be awarded by the University of Graz and Ca’ Foscari University Venice, by Leipzig University and Ca' Foscari University Venice and by the University of Graz and Leipzig University after the fulfilment of the respective legal prerequisites.

In addition, graduates of the Joint International Master in Sustainable Development will receive a diploma supplement and a jointly issued bridging document, containing all information about the programme and its international structure, provided by the respective entrance university.

The entrance university is responsible for handling the graduation process by confirming the successful completion of the programme in accordance with the programme requirements. The entrance university issues the local degree certificate and informs the degree-awarding mobility partner about the completion of the Joint Programme.

Degree options before 2020/21

Students who have taken up the Master’s programme before the academic year 2020/21, are awarded a joint degree certificate by the University of Graz and Leipzig University after the fulfillment of the respective legal prerequisites according to the curriculum.

A double degree is awarded by Utrecht University and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice after the fulfillment of the respective legal prerequisites:

Utrecht University:

  • to be enrolled as a student,
  • to have paid the tuition fees for the entire duration of the programme (at least 120 ECTS credits),
  • to have completed at least half of the Master’s programme (60 ECTS credits) through components offered by Utrecht University and
  • to have conducted the Master’s thesis research project (30 ECTS credits) at Utrecht University.
