Programme

Q: What is the duration of the course?
A: The duration is four semesters including the obligatory semester abroad, the master's thesis and all examinations.

Q: How big is the workload per semester?
A: The workload per semester is defined with 30 ECTS credits (approximately 750 working hours).

Q: Can I start the course only in the winter semester?
A: Yes. The course always starts in the winter semester.

Q: Who could I speak with about courses offered at the Uni Graz?
A: With the academic coordinator of the programme.

Application

Q: When will the application form be online?
A: The application form will be available at the end of January.

Q: I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Can I still apply for the programme?
A: In general, graduates from different fields of study can be admitted if the completed programme is judged to be equivalent by the selection committee.

Q: I want to take one of the consortium members as my home university, but spend the mobility semester at a university that is not a partner. Can I still get the joint Master's degree?
A: The Joint Master's degree is only awarded if at least 30 ECTS credits for a mobility semester is spent at a partner university within the consortium. You are of course free to spend another mobility semester at a university outside the consortium.

Q: I do not have my diploma yet. Can I still apply?
A: You can apply for the programmme, however, you should state in your application by what time you expect to get your degree. If you are selected by the committee, you need to have finished the degree you are involved in now by the time you register for the Joint Degree in fall.

Q: I earned my Bachelor's degree at one of the participating institutions. For the Joint Master's Degree I would nevertheless prefer another consortium member to be my home university. Is this possible? 
A: Yes, it is.

Q: Can I apply although I'm fully employed?
A: You can also apply for the course if you are employed. Please consider, however, that the programme involves four consecutive semesters of full-time study, including an obligatory semester abroad in the second or third semester.

Q: Is there a personal interview with the applicants?
A: No. The selection committee selects the students on the basis of the applications.

Finances

Q: Do you charge tuition fees? If yes, how much?
A: Please consult the section 'Finances' on this website for information on tuition.

Q: Will I receive financial support for the mobility semester?
A: The consortium members are doing their best to secure mobility grants for as many student as possible.

Q: Would I have to pay an extra amount (tuition) for the mobility semester?
A: No. You only have to pay the tuition at your home university.

Q: Can I apply for a scholarship?
A: Universities may offer a number of different scholarships. Please contact the academic coordinator of your chosen home university for more information.

Q: Do the universities offer any kind of financial support?
A: There is no financial support for the entire programme. However, regarding your mobility semester you can apply for a mobility grant.

Mobility

Q: Is it possible to spend two semesters abroad?
A: Yes. In the course of the Master's programme you can earn a maximum of 60 ECTS credits in mobility.
