Required documents
To make the application process as smooth as possible, it's important to ensure that you have all the necessary documents ready. When applying to our study programme, you have to provide and upload the following application documents:
Curriculum vitae (CV)
Motivation Statement
Copy of passport (ID page with photograph)
English language certificate
Bachelor's diploma/certificate
Transcript of records/Diploma Supplement
2 signed letters of recommendation
Information about courses relevant for the application
GPA and information about the grading system used at your university.
Please also find further information in the following.
You will have to enter your motivation statement directly into the online application. We recommend that you write it in advance - max. 4,000 characters.
Please describe in a short text why you would like to participate in the programme. In what way will the programme affect your professional future?
What are your (academic!) reasons for choosing: the programme, the entrance university and the mobility university?
What do you think would the programme add to your previous experience?
As the entire programme is taught in English, the Selection Committee requires proof of the applicant's proficiency in English. Accepted English language certificates:
- TOEFL: iBT – 95 (tests taken until 20 January 2026) / iBT 5 (tests taken from 21 January 2026 onwards);
- IELTS (academic test): minimum required score of 6.5 and not less than 6.0 in the writing section;
- Cambridge C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)) (minimum score 180);
- Cambridge C2 Proficiency (formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) (minimum grade C).
The language certificate must not be older than 2 years at the time of application to the programme.
Exception: English-native-speaking applicants (School-leaving qualification in an English-speaking country) and those who successfully completed an English-taught Bachelor's/Master's programme.
It is possible to submit the language certificate after the application deadline, but at the latest before the selection meeting takes place. Please upload the registration confirmation for the English test and indicate the exam/result date in the application. The certificate should be available at the selection committee meeting!
If you experience any problems, i.e. the language test centres are closed or the tests have been cancelled, please upload a confirmation of the cancelled tests + a confirmation of your test application. If you could provide additional language certificates or confirmations (e.g. older certificates etc.), this would also be very helpful. Due to this unusual situation, we will evaluate all applications on the condition that the language certificates are submitted at a later date.
Please use the respective templates to be found under the Download section
At least one of the letters of recommendation must be from an academic in your Bachelor's or degree programme, signed and issued on official stationary. The letters of recommendation may be addressed “Whom it may concern”. They shall provide a reference’s account of the applicant’s qualifications, including their skills, strengths, goals and accomplishments. They usually list academic achievements as well as extracurricular activities of the applicant, and includes details about the academic relationship between the referee and the applicant..
It is possible to upload the letters of recommendation directly into the online application. If the person writing the letter of recommendation does not want to send it to you directly, they can send it to jointdegrees(at)uni-graz.at and we will take care of the upload.
This is a specific requirement for Leipzig University as an entrance university. Please note that for the selection in the first stage, the indication of professional experience in the CV is sufficient. Proof may be requested later as part of the admission procedure at Leipzig University. For more information, please visit the website of Leipzig University.
Foreign educational documents have the same evidential value as domestic public documents only if you hold the mandatory legalization on the original documents. While the legalization is not required at the time of application submission, you must provide the legalized documents (Bachelor's diploma/certificate and Transcript of records/Diploma Supplement) at the time of the admission if you are selected.
As the legalization process may take several months in some countries, we strongly recommend that you start the legalization process early to avoid delays or the risk of losing your chance to be admitted.
Collect all required application documents and upload them to the application platform as PDF files. Please note that all documents have to be either in English or accompanied by a certified English translation subject to verification.
