Prospective Students

Programme Q: What is the duration of the course?
A: The duration is normally four semesters including the obligatory semester abroad, the master's thesis and all examinations.
  Q: Can I start the course only in the winter semester?
A: Yes. The joint degree programme always starts in the winter semester.
  Q: What is the workload per semester?
A: The workload per semester is defined with 30 ECTS credits (approximately 750 working hours).
  Q: Do you charge tuition fees? If yes, how much?
A: Please find the relevant information in the "Finances Section" of this website.
  Q: Are lessons held in English?
A: Most courses are held in English, however certain courses may be in the native language of the respective country. Thus, depending on your language proficiency, please choose the best entrance university. The courses during your mobility semester will all be held in English.
Application Q: Are there any regulations per number of eligible students?
A: The number of eligible students is decided upon by the consortium on an annual basis.
  Q: In which language do I have to hand in the required documents for my application? 
A: All documents for the application procedure must be submitted in English (or with an English translation where necessary).
  Q: Do I have to send the original documents for application?
A: For the application you have to meet the respective requirements at your chosen entrance university. Please see section "Application & Selection". Upon acceptance into the joint programme, you will have to provide the original certifiates to your entrance university.
  Q: I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Geography. Can I still apply for the program?
A: In general, graduates from different fields of study can be admitted if the completed programme is judged to be equivalent by the selection committee.
  Q: Is it necessary to have language knowledge other than English?
A: Please see the section "Language Requirements".
  Q: I earned my Bachelor's Degree at one of the participating institutions. For the Joint Master's Programme I would nevertheless prefer another consortium member to be my entrance university. Is this possible? 
A: Yes, it is.
 

Q: I don't have my diploma yet, can I still apply for the programme?
A: You can apply for the programme. However, you should state in your application when you expect to get your degree. If you are selected by the committee, you need to have finished your degree by the time you register at your entrance university for the programme.

  Q: Can I apply although I'm workig full-time?
A: You can also apply for the course if you are employed. Please consider, however, that the programme involves four consecutive semesters of full-time study, including an obligatory semester abroad in the third semester.
  Q: When are the results of selections presented?
A: After the application deadline, the selection committee will evaluate the applications and all applicants will be informed about the decision of the selection committee within 4 weeks so the second step of the application procedure - admission at the chosen entrance university - can be started.
Mobility Q: I want to take one of the consortium members as my entrance university, but spend the mobility semester at a university that is not a partner. Can I still get the Double Degree?
A: The Double Degree is only awarded if at least 30 ECTS credits for a mobility semester are accumulated at a partner university within the consortium. See detailed information in the curriculum. 
  Q: Is it possible to spend two semesters abroad?
A: Yes. In the course of the Master's programme you can earn a maximum of 60 ECTS credits in mobility.
Finances Q: Can I apply for a scholarship?
A: Universities may offer a number of different scholarships. Please contact the academic coordinator of your chosen entrance university for more information.
  Q: Will I receive financial support for the mobility semester?
A: The consortium members are doing their best to secure mobility grants for as many student as possible. Please note that you will need to ask about a mobility grant at your entrance university (not at the university where you want to spend your mobility semester).
