The following chart gives you an overview of the study path "Hiroshima University and University of Graz". A detailed description of the specialisation tracks can be found below.

Global Development Policy (Hiroshima University)

The track Global Development Policy covers fundamental theories and basic functions of public policy and their practical applications to development issues at both local and global perspectives. In particular:

  • SDG 1: No Poverty,
  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger,
  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being,
  • SDG 4: Quality education,
  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth,
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities as primary target areas, and
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production as secondary target areas.

The track also emphasises hands on and practical research experiences in developing countries in Asia and Africa, where further integration with science and technologies, local realities such as natural and geographical conditions are sought.

You will:

  • gain basic knowledge on public policy and management, and governance in relation to poverty alleviation and economic development, including SME development and industrialisation, human resource management and education, health and welfare, agricultural and rural development, urban and transportation, environmental protection and natural resource conservation;
  • be able to identify problems related to social systems and institutions for sustainable development and translate them into a research design in the targeted social contexts;
  • be able to propose a policy and institutional solution based on the research conducted as a part of their Master thesis.

Corporate Sustainability Management (University of Graz)

The track Corporate Sustainability Management deals with strategic sustainability management, sustainability controlling and management, quantitative methods of social research and a research project in sustainability and innovation management.

You will:

  • acquire in-depth knowledge about corporate sustainability management;
  • gain an understanding of complex relations between economic and ecological aspects of management;
  • learn how to develop and implement sustainability and environmental programmes in organizations;
  • critically analyse and reflect different approaches and concepts within this field
  • train their competences in team work and project-oriented tasks, also within international settings.
