Degree & Career Prospects

Upon completion of the Joint Master’s Programme students will be awarded the following degree: Master of Arts in English and American Studies.
Please note that the degree-awarding procedure had to be changed due to new legal regulations.
Students that have entered the programme until and including the academic year 2018/19 at the following universities will still receive the Joint Diploma provided that they complete the programme by 30th September 2022:
- University of Bamberg
- Ca' Foscari University of Venice
- University of Graz
Students that have entered the programme at the Université Paris Cité (former Université de Paris Diderot) after 1st Septmeber 2018 and those that will graduate after 1st September 2018 will receive a double degree from their entrance university (Université Paris Cité) and their mobility university as long as the mobility university is a degree-awarding partner instiution within the consortium.
Students who started the European Joint Master's Programme in English and American Studies from the academic year 2019/20 onwards will receive a double degree from their entrance university and their mobility university as long as the mobility university is a degree-awarding university.

Special regulations for the Double Degree Agreement between Barcelona and Venice:
In case you want to choose the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as your entrance university, you can only spend your mobility at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. For further information please consult the following WEBSITE
In case you choose Ca' Foscari University of Venice as your entrance university and the Universitàt de Barcelona (UAB) as your mobility university, you have the opportunity to receive a double degree.
Please note that in this case special regulations apply: Students will spend the second year at UAB, where, following the 30 ECTS they will obtain from taught courses, they will also be required to write a dissertation (30-50 pages) on a theme agreed with a supervisor in UAB. The dissertation carries 12 ECTS. This is in addition to the final degree thesis which students will have to write for Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and presents an opportunity for them to do background research into a theme which will be relevant to their final thesis, as well as providing useful experience of extended academic writing.

After graduation a variety of professional fields are open to you! You may pursue an academic career as you are fully qualified for a PhD programme.
Professional fields in the public and private sector include:
advertising, archive and library services, cultural organisations, diplomatic service, education, international co-operation, language-oriented professions, mass communication, publishing, tourism and public relations, or translating.
