The University of Bamberg offers degree programmes in 7 faculties : History and Geography, Catholic Theology, Education/Philosophy/Psychology, Social sciences and Economics, Languages and Literatures, Information Systems and Applied Computer Science at two locations : with humanities and cultural sciences forming a special focus in research and teaching at the university. Research at the University of Bamberg is characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinarity and networking. It has a strong European and international focus in its study and research programmes.

It has over 40 partners in Europe, North and South America as well as in the Middle East and Asia. More than a third of the students complete a part of their studies at a foreign university and participate in one of over 140 exchange programmes. The international orientation of the university is also demonstrated by the many courses it offers with an international emphasis. In addition, research in many disciplines in all faculties is devoted to European issues.
